Trauma is often thought of as something that exists only in the mind. But in reality, trauma is also a physical experience stored in the body.

At Posture Lab LA, we often explain trauma in a simple way:

The brain is constantly processing information like a high-speed calculator, solving equations every second of the day. It interprets sensory input, evaluates safety, regulates movement, and coordinates the nervous system.

When a traumatic or highly stressful event occurs, the brain can become overloaded with too much information at once. The system becomes overwhelmed and the “equation” cannot be fully processed.

Instead of completing the calculation, the brain may get stuck in a loop.

When the Nervous System Gets Stuck

The nervous system is designed to process stress and then return to balance. But when the stress is too intense or happens too quickly, the system can remain in a protective state.

This can create patterns such as:

  • Chronic muscle tension
  • Protective guarding in certain areas of the body
  • Shallow breathing
  • Fatigue or nervous system exhaustion
  • Persistent stress responses

In many cases, the body is simply holding onto unfinished stress signals.

Where Trauma Lives in the Body

The body has an incredible ability to store and protect information. When trauma is not fully processed, the tension can show up in many places, including:

  • muscular skeletal
  • Organs and the visceral system
  • The diaphragm and breathing patterns
  • The nervous system itself

This is why people sometimes experience physical symptoms long after the stressful event has passed.

The body is still holding the memory of that experience.

Releasing the Loop

Healing often involves helping the nervous system feel safe enough to complete the unfinished process.

This can occur through many supportive approaches such as:

Posturr Reset

S.E.T Method training

Neuro-fascia Massage

Breath work

Nervous system regulation

As the body relaxes and the nervous system stabilizes, it can begin to process the stored stress and release the loop.

The Body’s Intelligence

The body is not working against us — it is working to protect us.

When trauma is held in the body, it is often because the nervous system is waiting for the right conditions to safely process it.

The body is not working against us — it is working to protect us.

At Posture Lab LA, we understand the human body as a complete ecosystem. We understand how the body works, we know how to provide the support it needs to feel safe, secure, stable, and supported.

Let us help your body feel supported so your  nervous system can finally reset.

Live long. Live well.
